about

An exercise in abstraction by way of subtraction. Over nine wry techno, deep house, and electro tracks, Grooves riffs on the dub techno school of production, reducing compositions to their basic elements, before manipulating, resampling and processing them to channel a previously unheard level of complexity and depth. Science fiction and speculative fiction often hangs heavy over Champion’s work, but under the shadow of 2020, his speculations on man/machine interfacing and human augmentation land closer to home than ever before.
